The house had good bones, thick stone walls and a vaulted cellar, but no insulation and a kitchen in the old stable. We insulated from the inside with hemp and lime, moved the kitchen to the sunny side and turned the stable into a living room with doors to the garden.
Old terracotta tiles were lifted, cleaned and relaid over underfloor heating. New joinery is in local walnut.
